Habitloom privacy policy

About this policy
Habitloom is provided by Terminal86 Systems LLC. This policy explains how the app handles habit information, optional iCloud sync, backup files and recovery copies. The public contact for Habitloom privacy and support questions is support@terminal86.com.
Habit information stays under your control
Habitloom stores the practices you create, their settings and goals, entries, dates, progress, choices, notes, and storage/recovery information on your device. You do not create a Habitloom account. Terminal86 does not operate a habit-data backend or receive your habit records through the app. Habitloom has no advertising, analytics SDK, tracking or habit-data sale integration.
The app and its widget share an on-device snapshot through their Apple App Group so the widget can display practice information. A widget can make that information visible wherever you choose to place it; your device and widget visibility settings apply.
Optional private iCloud sync
You can choose private iCloud sync in Storage & sync. This uses Apple's CloudKit service and a private database associated with your Apple Account. Data sent through this option is processed and stored by Apple, not on a Terminal86 habit-data server. Terminal86 provides the app's container and record definitions; that does not make your private habit database a publicly shared database.
Habitloom keeps account-matching information on your device to associate storage choices and recovery histories with the intended Apple Account. Account availability does not mean every change has finished syncing. Sync depends on your Apple Account, network, device settings and Apple's service. See Apple's Privacy Policy for Apple's handling of its services.
Apple also handles App Store purchases and platform diagnostics under its policies and your device settings; these are separate from Habitloom’s own local storage and optional private sync.
You can choose on-device storage instead. Storage changes take effect after you close and reopen Habitloom. Until then, the current private iCloud sync may continue. Existing device, recovery or iCloud copies are not automatically erased merely because you change the storage preference.
Backup files and device backup
Save backup creates a JSON file containing habits, history, notes and supported settings. Restore backup lets you review a file before adding supported data. These are user-directed actions. Habitloom does not send exported files to Terminal86. You choose the destination in Files, such as your own iCloud Drive or another provider, and decide whether to share or delete a file. Files can contain private notes and history.
User-exported backup files are entirely outside Habitloom's automatic recovery-retention system. The app does not count them toward recovery limits or remove them during recovery cleanup.
Apple's iCloud device backup is separate from private habit sync and exported files. Local app data can be eligible for device backup according to your settings and Apple's backup behavior. Eligibility does not guarantee a completed backup or restore. Files providers and Apple apply their own storage, sharing, backup and retention rules.
Internal recovery copies and deletion
Habitloom creates on-device recovery checkpoints to help you recover earlier history. Changed saved history can receive at most one daily checkpoint when you use the app. Safety copies are also required before consequential operations such as a changing restore, a storage transition or opening earlier data. Ordinary habit taps and sync updates do not each create a checkpoint. This is not per-edit undo or a promise of an exact background backup time.
Automatic recovery targets seven daily and three pre-change checkpoints within a 256 MiB internal recovery budget. Protected earlier histories, legacy/account/store origins and copies involved in recovery may prevent automatic cleanup and remain for review. The app can warn and stop a consequential operation when it cannot safely create the required copy or meet its recovery budget. These protections take priority over silently deleting a unique recovery source.
Recovery options lets you review earlier histories and manage available internal recovery copies. Permanently removing a copy requires an explicit confirmation; it may be the only copy of that earlier history. Active or pending recovery references remain protected. User-managed backup files in Files or iCloud Drive are never removed by these controls.
Erase current habits affects the current habit store and can sync deletion when private sync is active. It does not necessarily remove earlier recovery copies, exported files, device backups or every existing Apple-held copy. Manage exported files with their storage provider, and manage iCloud/device backups through Apple's controls. Removing or offloading an app and deleting a device backup have different effects. Terminal86 does not promise immediate or secure erasure of every copy held by a device or third-party service.
Support messages and website visits
If you email support, Terminal86 receives the sender address, message and attachments you choose to send, and uses that information to respond to your request. Support correspondence is separate from habit information kept locally or in your private iCloud database. Do not send a full habit history or backup unless you choose to share it for support.
Email and hosting providers may process the technical information needed to deliver messages or web pages, such as message headers, IP addresses and security logs. Opening this policy or another Terminal86 page involves the website's hosting service. See the Terminal86 website privacy notice for website practices.
Contact support@terminal86.com with a privacy question or a request concerning information you have sent to support. We will address requests according to the information we hold and applicable requirements. We cannot retrieve a habit history from a Terminal86 habit-data backend because the app does not provide one; device, private-iCloud and backup-file controls remain important for managing your copies. No fixed support-message retention or deletion deadline is promised by this policy.
Policy updates
We may update this policy when Habitloom's practices change. The effective date above identifies this version. Questions can be sent to support@terminal86.com.
